Welcome to "Glen Isla". This is the original and authentic Glen Isla on Phillip Island dating back to c1870!
We're currently closed to guests for our annual winter recess - we reopen for guests on 6th September 2018 (for the 2018-2019 season) We undertake our annual maintenance and cleaning programs over winter, in readiness for 'springtime'.
If you don't see availability here for your dates, email us! We usually respond to email inquiries within 24 hours.
We don't always have all our availability online, and we don't always use the online travel agents/booking sites because of the huge commissions they charge us for every booking!

Glen Isla House accommodates a small number of guests only, to ensure unobtrusive personal attention and absolute privacy in a serene heritage atmosphere.
Two acres of dreamy established and authentic heritage gardens provide a tranquil retreat to relax in (the oak trees are heritage classified and over 100 years old).
For guests staying in our Heritage Suite and Classic Deluxe rooms, linger over our substantial continental-style breakfast at your own table overlooking the heritage gardens in the elegant dining room (available 0830-0945am on selected days). We offer rooms rates including breakfast (B&B rate) and excluding breakfast (ROOM ONLY rate). * The dining room does not operate every day. See room inclusions.
On days we are offering breakfast, the restaurant-style dining room is reserved exclusively for resident house guests (in our Glen Isla Classic Deluxe Rooms and the Anderson Heritage Suite) for our breakfast service and provides an intimate experience. Our dining room is not open to members of the public as a cafe.
Our kitchen/dining room does not operate every day - check the tariff & room description, and inclusions comments for the room type on the booking page or directly with the property). With penalty casual wage rates still applicable in the hospitality industry here in Australia, we generally do not operate on public holidays now and breakfast is not usually available on public holidays.
Room rate types with "B&B" include breakfast in the elegant dining room. Room rates with (Room Only) do not include breakfast in the rate. This is clearly shown in the room details and availability.
Most dietary needs can be catered for, with advance notice. We can recommend cafes nearby (3 minutes drive) for a cafe-style breakfast if you prefer a a later or simpler breakfast than we offer, or our dining room is not operating on a particular day.
For lunch & dinner, we can recommend nearby restaurants - some walking distance, and we have selected sample menus here for these restaurants.
Staying in our elegant self-cater Gate Cottage?
The GATE COTTAGE (Self Cater Cottage) maximum occupancy is 4 persons.
The second bedroom in the Gate Cottage is made-up if additional guests are booked in the original booking before arrival. Costs for additional guests are shown in the booking area for the Gate Cottage. Children 12 years and older are welcome (to maximum occupancy of 4 guests) in the Gate Cottage and charged at the adult guest rate per night. They should be entered as extra adults on the booking form.
Note: Additional 'make-up' housekeeping charges will apply if you arrive with additional unbooked guests for the Gate Cottage and request the Gate Cottage second bedroom to be made-up on arrival. We are unable to guarantee our housekeeper will be available to make up the additional bedroom after 5pm if you arrive with unbooked guests, and have not booked for the additional bedroom in the Gate Cottage to be made-up.
We can recommend nearby supermarkets in the township for provisions (the Gate Cottage has a fully equipped real kitchen - not a 'kitchenette' like some cottages), and there are numerous cafe's in the town if you don't fancy preparing your own breakfast!
Breakfast is not generally available in the main dining room for Gate Cottage guests, but you can check with the hosts on arrival (on capacity/availability and costs).
Secure off-street parking is provided (inside the grounds for all guests - NOT on the street). We never request guests to park on the street outside the property!
We have no facilities for infants or younger children and we do not have additional bedding for any of our accommodations. Children over 12 yeas old are welcome in all our accommodations - accompanied by adults of course...
(Glen Isla is a heritage classified property - unsuitable for young children as we have 3 unfenced historic wells and a large unfenced fishpond on the property).
Children 12 years and older staying, are charged at the adult rate for their stay.

Our Classic Deluxe Rooms, The Studio Junior Suite and the Heritage Suite accommodate maximum occupancy of 2 GUESTS ONLY regardless of age (we do not have roll-a-way or folding beds available at Glen Isla and we cannot under any circumstances add additional beeding to any of our rooms/accommodations). Tariffs are for occupancy of 1 or 2 persons only. For 3 persons, two classic rooms are required (or one classic room and the heritage suite).
Our occupancy policy is governed by BUILDING FIRE REGULATIONS, our accommodation license with the local authoriities and our insurances.
Free Wi-Fi business grade Internet access (fair use policy applies). WiFi is generally accessible in most rooms, in the main dining room, summer house sitting room and gardens.

Sorry for the rather detailed TERMS and CONDITIONS but in today's world we have to be quite clear about what we offer and under what conditions!! Please read this information so that you and we have the same understanding!!

When you book with us, your credit card has not been charged for the reservation up-front like other booking/travel agent web sites.
We are holding your reservation with your card as security. We reserve the right to pre-authorise/validate your credit card prior to arrival, and we will expect payment when you are here with us.
*** There are no 'booking fees' for this reservation directly with Glen Isla House and there are no hidden "middle-man commissions" and fees like the online travel agent sites.
We will expect payment when you are here with us with your card in-person. (We may pre-authorise your card in our banking terminal as an anti-fraud measure)
We welcome Visa, MasterCard and AMEX credit cards in our electronic terminal, and Australian EFTPOS cards. Settlement by cash is also available, but we do not accept payment by cheques.

Our check-in time for arriving guests is from from 3pm to 6:30pm. (The office closes at 6:30PM)
If you think you will arrive LATER THAN 6:30pm PLEASE CALL US IN ADVANCE to make arrangements
As a small family owned and operated business, we are unable to provide 24-hour reception and check-in like large corporate hotels, but we can usually accommodate later check-ins until 9PM latest with advance notice.
If you have not arrived by 9PM and have not notified us in advance, we will assume you are a 'no-show', and cancel the reservation with applicable cancellation charges being applied to your credit card.
Early Check-in: We're unfortunately unable to guarantee early check-ins or late check-outs - particularly if we are heavily booked the previous night to your arrival day, but you can check with us on the day.
We have a later checkout time than motels and many other properties, however we still need time for our housekeeper to prepare for arrivals. If you wish to guarantee an early check-in you will need to book the previous night's stay.
CHECK-OUT TIME: 11am
Glen Isla House is an adult-style retreat. As the property is an historic heritage classified property with 3 historic wells, and a large unfenced fish pond, Glen Isla is unsuited to children (and we have no facilities for children or infants). Our rooms have been designed with couples in mind and to accommodate 1 or 2 adults only.
We welcome children 12 years and older in all our accommodations.
(Most of our guests choose to stay at Glen Isla knowing that there will not be young children or infants in our accommodations and/or public areas). Children 12 years and older are charged at the adult rate.
We do not have foldingbeds, sofa beds or roll-a-way beds at our property.
Maximum occupancy for the Anderson Heritage Suite and Classic Deluxe Rooms is 2 persons total under BUILDING FIRE REGULATIONS.
(If you have booked one of our Classic Deluxe rooms, we do have one classic room only, which can be offered with TWIN single beds - with 48 hours advance notice - it is subject to availability/prior reservation so we unable to guarantee its availability)
Maximum occupancy for the Gate Cottage (Self-Cater Cottage) is 4 persons total. We are required by law not to exceed these occupancy limits and doing so invalidates our insurances.
Rates for the Gate Cottage are for 1 or 2 persons with the master bedroom being made-up.
For additional persons and extra bedding to be made-up in the second bedroom (TWIN beds) these should be entered as 'extra adults' and will incur additional charges as shown on the booking form per person per night.
(There is no provision to enter children into our booking system). Children 12 years and older will be charged at the adult rate per night.
If you arrive to check-in to the GATE COTTAGE with un-booked additional guests (there is a MAXIMUM of 4 guests in total) for the Gate Cottage, there will be an additional charge for us to make-up additional beds, and is subject to availability of our housekeeper to do so (we may not be able to offer this service after 5PM or late at night)
If your accommodations/reservation are in our main B&B rooms, and includes breakfast in our elegant dining room, we gladly cater for dietary requirements, but PLEASE ADVISE US 48 hours IN ADVANCE so we can prepare accordingly.
Sorry - no pets allowed at Glen Isla House (visually-impaired persons accompanied by guide/seeing-eye dogs - with official identification, excepted of course).
We have ample parking for all guest vehicles inside the grounds (off the street). We never request guests to park on the street.
(Please note all vehicles are parked at guests' risk - we do not accept any responsibility or liability for any damage however caused to guest vehicles while located on the property)

NON SMOKING Policy
All inside areas including our rooms and bathrooms etc are ABSOLUTELY NON-SMOKING at all times. Guests can smoke in the gardens provided they do not adversely affect other non-smoking guests. We provide ash trays in certain outside areas for smokers' use. (You will be asked to agree to and sign our non-smoking policy on check-in, on the guest registration form)

Our recommendations: The Ultimate Adventure Tour, Penguins Plus, the Ranger Guided Tour & the VIP Tour, but do be aware they have limited capacity and these options often sell out in advance.
As a small family business with only 7 rooms, last minute cancellations affect us greatly. We're not a large corporate owned hotel business or chain. If we have a cancellation and we are unable to resell the room, it has a significant impact on us. In that regard, here are our policies on cancellation.
If you have booked directly with us here via this booking engine, we accept cancellations up to 7 (clear) days before scheduled arrival date, at no charge.
If you cancel inside of 7 full days of scheduled arrival date, we will charge your card with 1 night's tariff/accommodation as booked as a cancellation fee, but only if we are unable to resell the room(s) as booked.
We recommend all guests have adequate travel insurance to cover unforseen circumstances and any cancellation fees that may arise as a result of last-minute cancellation
If you are a no-show (i.e. non arrival without prior notification), we will charge your card with the booked tariff for all nights of the booking.
For multiple night bookings, early departure (after check-in) will incur the full charges of the applicable/booked tariff, unless we are able to resell the room.
We reserve the right (at our discretion) to charge AUD$50.00 "cancellation administration fee" for all cancellations over and above any cancellation charges outlined above.
