Crawfords Arrowtown

In 1987 Emmy award winning Australian TV producer, Henry Crawford, landed on a remote beach in Fiji and set about creating what was to become an iconic resort which regularly found itself in ‘World’s Best’ lists.

‘Vatulele’, this product of his fertile imagination and ecclectic taste, was ultimately named ‘Hotel of the Year’ in the 2000 Small Luxury Hotels of the World, annual awards. The resort was sold in 2007.

After 20 years playing in the tropics, Henry and his Corporate Affairs wife, Nina, have opted for a quieter lifestyle and a cooler climate.

They recently acquired a listed building in Arrowtown – a small, and well preserved historic gold mining town on the doorstep of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Situated on Arrowtown's beautiful tree-lined main street their new home was the original police station and residence built in 1900. The homestead is set well back from the street in spacious gardens, with wonderful mountain views, yet is conveniently located in the main street, just a few minutes walk away from the town center with its charming cafes and restaurants and old worlde shops.

The Crawfords have transformed three classic rooms in the old police stables adjacent to their house. Featuring the Crawford’s well known style and taste, each room has its own ensuite facilities, queen bed, refrigerator tea/coffee facilities, SKY TV, free wireless internet and private off-street parking. For skiers there is a ski storage area & drying room.
